On April 2nd or 3rd I was driving down 39th south in salt lake city when my brake light came on and instantly this is what had happened.
I immediately called up my chrsler roadside assistance thinking that this was no doubt a warranty issue. The jeep was towed down to Hinkley Dodge where i was told that my axle braking was due to mis-use my thoughts were well explain mis use. The region tech explained this misuse as being abused off of road conditions.
This accident caused for it to be necassary to replace both axle shafts, ring and pinion, spider gears, all rear brake components and $300 to repair the fence that was hit by my rolling axle shaft and tire
The total cost of repairs by the dealer was over $3000.00 I proceeded to have it towed to my place of work All About Trucks Inc. in Salt Lake City where i had it diagnosed and repaired.
This is when i was told that the accident after the axle broke caused the damage to the brake components, the right axle shaft, the ring and pinion as well as all of the spider gears and carriers.
I chose to upgrade to 4.56 gear ration front and rear and still my total cost for repairs was $2500.00
Now my real concern is the fact that Jeep claims that all of there vehicles are "trail rated" well my Jeep is a "trail rated" jeep with a 7/70,000 powertrain warranty and well a whole lotta good that did me.
When my father and i were able to meet with the region tech he told my dad that he shouldn't be talking to him but my dad needed to give me a lesson on how to drive because i was recklessly driving off road thus turned my axle which is mis-use and voids all warranty coverage.
I am an 18 year old young man and I am paying $300.00 a month for my jeep let me tell ya i'm treating it like crap.
Jeep needs to clear up offering a trail rated suv and then saying that because it's been offroad and they can see red sand they aren't gonna cover your warranty.
Following this the tech found other reasons such as my pinion angle was off and this and that all of which were set professionally I Love my JEEP but i don't ever think i'll bother buying a warranty again.
