Just thought I'd introduce myself, my name's Stan and I own a ZJ that started out as a very nice daily driver. . .and now just sits around waiting for the next wheeling trip because of poor street handling and awful gas mileage. ;D I ran across this forum while reading through some of the threads on www.colorado4x4.org this AM. I like what I've seen so far! Since Moab is indeed the Mecca of off-roading, it just follows that a site like this is a good place to be, with other fellow Moab-enthusiasts!! Note: pics taken before significant body damage to several panels on Holy Cross and (of all places) Bill Moore Lake (hey, it was a REALLY big snow drift and that tree jumped out at me! )

Welcome to a great site Stan! I'm intrigued that you ran Holy Cross...was it awesome?? Thanks guys! Yes, Holy Cross WAS awesome! It's a beautiful area, tucked away between Vail and Leadville. We did the trail last July. There were a number of small steams going across the trail and in front of pretty much every obstacle when we went, so many of the easier ones were made fairly challenging. If you want to see some beautiful scenery and more of the trail, I have pics at www.jeepsite.net/jeep_holycross05.html.

It should be a good year for that with the minimal snow we've gotten, just as long as we're not on fire. Holy Cross is our top trip priority for this summer. We made the re-con run to Leadville last summer, so that will be our base for the trip. Did you run the trail in a day or camp?

I love the desert, but there is definitely something to be said for high mountain country.
