Anyone know of the maps for the west side of the Green River, I picked some up in Moab a long time ago but can't find um now. They were like the old F.A. Barnes maps. Any other Trail Info / Maps for the San Rafael, Goblin Valley, etc. areas would be helpful and where could I get um. Thanks, Ed

The one Dave posted a link to is about the best one for the area. I have some older maps that I use too, but have found several roads have been closed in recent years (last 15 or so). The map from the BLM is good to have to refer to - it really sucks to burn all your day and most of your gas thinking there is a alternate way out - then find it's closed and have to backtrack. A good example of this is the Behind the Reef Road - A portion of that has been designated 50" wide or less - so you can no longer drive it. There's also a couple of routes through the reef in the Barnes maps that are not open any more. I walked Crack Canyon a couple of years ago - it's a shame it is closed, would be a great loop or access route.

Looking to explore, but would like to avoid 2 lane gravel when possible and backtracking do to closures.

So where's the picture from Tim? Not even a guess? ;D Right on the border of the Sids Mountain WSA, north of Bottleneck peak. Very cool area.

So where's the picture from Tim? Not even a guess? ;D Unfortunetly, the only time I've spent in the Swell is what you can see from I-70.

You're missing out - great area to explore. It's very remote though, you need lots of gas and more than 1 vehicle. Here's another pic just to whet your apppatite. ;D Red's Canyon area.
