We were in Moab a week or so ago and ran Pritchett. Even though we didn't use them I could find all the winch anchors except for the Rock Pile. So where is it? or did someone take it out? Also I was confused at the WSA sign at Yellow Hill. We went the traditional way but it looks like everyone is going to the left at the sign. So is it OK to go to the left? If not there should have been a closure sign. Here is a clip of Linda on Rocker Knocker. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5663999377619948710Todd

Don't recall seeing a winch point on Rock Pile. Did they put one there as well? Saw them other places, but not any indication of one there. The Yellow hill question is something I'd like to know as well. We had people in our group go up Yellow Hill on the reg. route as well as the "big dog" route to the far right, but we also had some less equipped rigs and broke rigs that went up the "bypass" to the left. What's up with that? Can the RR4w's Land use officer shed some light on the subject?

There is no winch anchor at the top of RockPile. We figured the few people who would actually winch up it could use the huge rock like they have for years.
The "WSA No Vehicles" sign on the Yellow Hill bypass is inadequate in my opinion if BLM really wants people to not use it. When I talked to the BLM employee who installed it, he said that they would prefer that people not use it, but he also realized that it could be used as a way to get broken vehicles out, or as a "safer" alternative. I'd prefer to see it somehow permanently closed and "rehabilitated", but right now that decision is up to the BLM.

It has been years since we were on Pritchett and the bypass to Rockpile was new. After seeing Rockpile without the rocks it did not seem to me that it was any easier with the rocks. Todd

I'm with you Todd. The Rock Pile was always wicked, with or without. Didn't even try it with the TJ this year at Safari. BTW, what is the wheel base on your YJ?
