I just read a thread on Pirate4x4.com that stated Lions Back was sold and closed. Can anybody on site verify or dispute this? Also does this effect the exit for Hells Revenge? Thanks Al

i cant say for sure but i do know that the campground was for sale for quite awhile. if it were sold the owners could legally close lion's back (major liability) but they would have to grant access to exit hell's since it's part of the rec area. i'll txt greenjeep and see what he knows (his comp is down). this is waht ive been told in the past

i doubt it - yo'd have to back track soooo far or use the illegal short cut to do it and thats a major land use issue. with it being on the border of a public land venue i'll bet that they'd either have to grant access or the pressure to do it would so much they'd just give in

A couple of years ago we concidered buying that piece of land . That prorerty does not go to the cliff edge .. The exsisting exit for hells revenge is not on the property . The prop. line is the fence line that is bordering the road that exits hells

OK, here's the skinny:
Lions Back Campground area has been sold and the current owner has closed down Lion's Back as well as Dump Bump, saying his insurance company forced the issue. We have met with the developer and he is a pretty nice guy, he's also part owner of the Gonzo Inn. The new development is planned to include around 260 units, with a large central unit. They will be 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units; the small units will start at $300,000+.
At this point the exit of Hell's Revenge will remain open, although there may be some re-routing. I am trying to fight the closures, with the help of some concerned organizations. I am trying to get these routes declared as public rights of way, this should negate the responsibility of the land owner in the event of an accident.
We are determined to fight this, legally if it comes down to it, but for now and for this year's Jeep Safari they will NOT be open.
I'll keep you updated on future developments.
