Hello all, We are planning another trip to Moab the first week in august, addmittedly mostly for mountain biking and rock climbing, but due to the heat most of the afternoons we'll be looking for stuff to do. I thought I'd see what are some good trails for a stock 98' S10 4dr Blazer in the area, about all I've drove in the past is Hurrah Pass. I've mountain biked a lot of the popular trails (portal, porcupine, slickrock, amasa, klondike, la sal mtn. loop, poison spider) so I'm familar with the general area, but we haven't done any real off roading out there. It has skid plates and geolanders on it with a full spare, but I'd rather not hurt the truck so basically I'm just looking for other local trails that might be more challenging than hurrah pass, but not a serious danger to my vehicle either, as it has to get my butt home Thanks in advance Todd

Gemini Bridges and Long Canyon are a good combo that isn't hard, and are very pretty. Fins 'n Things is a bit more challenging, but can be managed in a stock vehicle. Any of the mountain bike trails you mentioned can be driven also. If you don't have it, I would really recommend buying Charles Wells guide book for the Moab area, it has a great play-by-play description of most of the popular trails.
If there's anything else you need help with, just let us know.

Sounds good I will check out the book for sure, the only books I have now just cover biking and climbing.
This should probably go in another forum area but what is there to do in town in the evenings if anything? Does everything shut down pretty early or are there good places to relax, evening events etc? Usually when we are there in March we are sleeping by 8pm after a full day of biking and climbing but with it being so hot this next week, we will be done biking by 11am for sure, so after that doing some touristy driving and short hiking for sure but we rented a condo in town for the week so I thought I'd ask if there is anything going on in town in the evenings.
Thanks again, take care
Todd

During the summer most of the shops are open until 9 or 10 and the restaurants until 10 or later. There are a few bars in town, and I believe that Woody's and The Rio has nightly music. If there is anything more specific that you were thinking, just let me know.
