Feb 4th, the Utah 4 Wheel Drive Association held their annual Winter Convention. This years event was hosted by the Moab Friends for Wheelin'.
Our club offered 4 trails to choose from: Fins & Things, Seven-mile Rim, Strike Ravine, and a fairly new trail called Green Day which is located in the privately owned Area BFE.
Drtsqrl led Green Day, which we expected to be about a "4". Since I was anxious to test out my newly rebuilt CJ, I opted for this one.
Holy crap this trail is awesome!! It is located just a little north of Upper Helldorado. The trail is fairly short, but is a ton of fun. We definitely exceeded the 4 rating, it was easily on the Pritchett Canyon level, and was by far the most technical trail I've ever driven (including Pritchett Canyon).
It has several steep ledges, both up and down, as well as several boulder fields to cross, and a very narrow, rocky wash you spend quite some time in. I had a blast and except for flexing so much that my front coil spring came off it's perch, and for coming off one ledge "a little" too hard and slightly endo-ing (I'll show you the video as soon as I can find somewhere to host it.) which caused my redneck engineered battery tie-down (read: bungee cord) to break, thus causing my battery to try to weld it's self to my exhaust manifold, the CJ did awesome. I have forgotten how much fun my CJ can be.
Anyway I'll post some pics for you viewing pleasure
This is the entrance, up the hill from Helldorado and on the right.
LOTS of fun rocks to crawl!!
This is the first real obstacle.
Drtsqrl doin' his thing.
This is Chris, one of the co-owners of Area BFE. He's an awesome guy and a blast to wheel with.
More Drtsqrl
Mrs. Drtsqrl
My CJ on it's inaugural trip after it's massive rebuild
More Mrs. Drtsqrl on a "small ledge"
(Wait until you see the video of me going down this obstacle )
More boulder crawlin'
Coilovers on an XJ, sweet!!
Following the wash out.
I SURVIVED!!!!!
Man, I can't wait to run that trail again!!!!!!!!!!!!
