Well, we had a rather eventful day yesterday on the Rim. The five of us made it all the way to the overlook without incident, but on the way back, we stopped to play on the sand hill climb for a bit. Greenjeep wanted to try and straddle a deep crack, so I was guiding him through when his drivers side front tire started to sink in the mud. A soft flop into the sand on his drivers side was the result. No damage except for a broken mirror... way to go Dave!
My wife (WomanDriver) wasn't quite so lucky a little while later. Heading down the Devil's Crack, she took a poor line (too far to the right and not square enough to the ledge), and it was too much for the short wheelbase Sammy. She ended up doing a spectacular 360 degree barrel roll, landing back on her tires but pointing uphill. The engine never even stopped running (fuel injection is great!) The small crowd of hikers that was watching thought it was a great show! They thought it was even better when she took a deep breath and climbed back up the obstacle, turned around, and went down it again, this time without incident. She (and our dog riding with her) were totally unhurt, thanks to good seats, seatbelts, and a strong rollcage. The Samurai now has dents in 3 of the 4 corners and the hood, a broken driver's door window, a dent behind the door, and a destroyed soft top. Amazingly, the windshield was untouched.
Our beagle never did like jeepin' much... I'll be surprised if he ever gets in with Susan again!

And THEN I found out. Glad you're ok, Susan!

Here's a pic of Susan's rig after the roll. The dent behind the door is the biggest, but it also got the right rear corner, and both front corners. Not too bad, considering!

I told Dave I didn't care if he broke anything, as long as it didn't cost anything to fix.

I told Dave I didn't care if he broke anything, as long as it didn't cost anything to fix. That is a great way to think about it

You guys can keep right on rocking and rolling. I'm not sure I'd ever get back in if we did that. So glad everyone was okay. And poor puppy. Dave, yours almost looks funny from the picture. Not bad enough to be serious, but rather hilarious seeing the Commando just laying on its side. ;D

Don't say that. Moabchic will think she needs to try it too.
